Privacy Policy
This policy explains what personal information Joishi collects, why, who receives it, and the choices and rights you have — including specific rights under the laws of US states, the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, India and Nepal.
In short: we use your information to run Joishi. We never let our staff read your AI conversations. We do not sell your information for money. If we use advertising cookies, you can opt out, and we honor the Global Privacy Control signal.
1. Who we are
Joishi ("Joishi", "we", "us") is operated by Softup LLC, a limited liability company organized in the State of Texas, 1061 Agape Dr, Haslet, TX 76052-4096, United States. It is the controller (the business responsible) for personal information about users outside Nepal.
For users in Nepal, the controller is Soft Up Pvt. Ltd., Gatthaghar, Bhaktapur, Nepal, which provides Joishi in Nepal and receives payments in Nepalese rupees. Both companies follow this policy.
2. What this policy covers
This policy applies to the Joishi website (joishi.com), the Joishi apps for iOS and Android, and every service reached through them, including the calendar and panchanga, astrology and chart tools, AI readings and reports, purchases, and the handwritten kundali delivered by courier.
Professional users and their clients
Astrologers and other professionals can use Joishi to keep records of their own clients. For that client information, the professional decides what is collected and why, and we process it on their behalf and on their instructions. A client of a professional should direct privacy requests to that professional; we will help them respond.
3. Information we collect
| Category | What it includes | Where it comes from |
|---|---|---|
| Account and contact | Name, email address, username, password (stored only as a one-way hash), sign-in with Google or Apple, passkeys, two-factor settings, language, time zone, country | You, and Google or Apple if you sign in with them |
| Profile | Gender, date of birth, profile picture | You (optional unless a feature needs it) |
| Birth and chart details | Date, time and place of birth — yours and those of family members or others you add — and the charts, matches and readings computed from them | You |
| AI conversations and reports | Questions you ask, answers generated for you, and life reports | You and our AI features |
| Purchases | Plans, credits, orders, coupons, transaction records and payment status. Card numbers are entered with our payment processors and never reach our servers | You, payment processors, Apple and Google |
| Delivery | Recipient name, phone number and postal address for a handwritten kundali | You |
| Device and usage | IP address, device type and operating system, app version, identifiers used for notifications, pages and screens used, crash reports and performance data | Your device and browser, automatically |
| Communications | Messages you send us through the contact form or by email | You |
Location, microphone, photos and biometrics
- Location — only when you tap to fill in a birth place, and only while the app is open. It is turned into a place name for that field. We do not track your location or store it as your whereabouts.
- Microphone — only when you use voice input. Your speech is turned into text by your device's own speech service (Apple or Google); we receive the text, not the recording.
- Photos — only the picture you choose as your profile picture.
- Face ID and fingerprint — checked by your device. We never receive biometric data.
Information about other people
When you add a family member, partner or client, you give us their name and birth details. Please do so only if you are entitled to — for example, as their parent or guardian, with their permission, or as their professional astrologer with their consent. We use that information only to provide the service to you.
Information we do not want
Joishi does not need health, financial account or government ID information. Please do not include it in AI questions or notes. If you do, it is used only to answer you.
4. How we use information
- To create and secure your account and sign you in
- To compute calendars, panchanga, charts, matches, muhurta and other results you ask for
- To generate AI answers and reports you request
- To process payments, grant what you bought, deliver handwritten kundalis, and handle refunds
- To send notifications you have enabled (festival reminders, birthdays, daily content) and service messages (receipts, security alerts)
- To provide support and respond to requests
- To measure and improve Joishi, fix errors, and keep it reliable
- To advertise Joishi and measure our advertising, subject to your choices (Section 7)
- To prevent fraud and abuse, enforce our Terms, and comply with law
We do not use your birth details, AI conversations, readings or anything you tell us about health, relationships or beliefs to target advertising, and we do not infer your religion or other sensitive characteristics.
5. AI features
When you use an AI feature, the relevant birth and chart details and your question are sent to our AI providers — currently Google (Gemini) and Anthropic (Claude) — to generate the answer. We use their business services, under terms that do not allow them to use your information to train their models.
The text of your AI conversations is encrypted when stored, and no one at Joishi can read it — we have no staff tool for viewing it. We keep only counts and usage totals (such as how many questions were asked and the credits used) to run billing and plan capacity.
AI answers are generated automatically and can be wrong. We do not use AI to make decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects on you.
7. Advertising, cookies and your choices
What we use
- Essential — sign-in, security, remembering your language and settings. Always on, because Joishi cannot work without them.
- Analytics — how Joishi is used and how it performs (Google Firebase Analytics).
- Advertising — pixels or software kits from advertising partners that tell them when someone visited or signed up after seeing an ad, so we can measure and improve our campaigns. These are used only where enabled and never for users we know are under 18.
Your choices
- Your Privacy Choices — opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information and of targeted advertising through the "Your Privacy Choices" link at the bottom of the site, in the app's settings, or by emailing [email protected].
- Global Privacy Control — if your browser sends the GPC signal, we treat it as a valid opt-out of sale, sharing and targeted advertising for that browser, and, if you are signed in, for your account.
- Do Not Track — browsers' older "Do Not Track" signal has no agreed meaning, so we respond to Global Privacy Control instead.
- Devices — you can reset or limit your mobile advertising ID, and turn off notifications, in your phone's settings.
- Email — every marketing email has an unsubscribe link. Service messages, such as receipts and security alerts, cannot be turned off while you have an account.
Where the law requires consent before analytics or advertising cookies are used (for example, in the EEA and UK), we ask first.
8. How long we keep information
| Information | How long |
|---|---|
| Account, profile, birth details, charts | Until you delete them or your account |
| AI conversations and reports | Until you delete them or your account |
| Transaction and order records | As long as tax, accounting and consumer law require (generally up to 7 years), then deleted |
| Delivery details | Until the order is complete and any dispute resolved, then with the order record |
| Security logs and error reports | Up to 12 months |
| Analytics data | Up to 14 months |
When you delete your account, we delete or permanently anonymize your personal information, except what we must keep by law. Backups are overwritten on a rolling basis.
9. Security
We use encryption in transit, encryption at rest for AI conversation text, hashed passwords, passkeys and two-factor authentication, access controls and audit logs. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects you, we will notify you and the authorities as the law requires.
10. International transfers
Joishi is run from the United States and Nepal, and our servers and providers are in several countries, including India, the United States and the European Union. Your information may be processed outside your country. Where required, we protect transfers with safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses and the UK International Data Transfer Addendum.
11. Children and teens
Joishi is not for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If we learn that a child under 13 has created an account, we delete it. Parents who believe their child has given us information can contact [email protected].
We do not sell or share, or use for targeted advertising, the personal information of users we know are under 18. Where a parent adds a child's birth details as a family member, we use them only to provide the service to the parent.
12. Your rights everywhere
Wherever you live, you can ask us to:
- Tell you what personal information we hold about you and give you a copy
- Correct information that is wrong
- Delete your information — you can also delete your account yourself in Settings
- Stop using your information for advertising, and withdraw any consent you gave
Email [email protected] from the address on your account. We will verify your identity by confirming control of that account, and reply within 30 days (45 days where the law allows). You can use an authorized agent; we will ask for proof of their authority. We will not treat you differently for using your rights.
13. United States: state privacy rights
Residents of California, Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, Texas, Oregon, Montana, Delaware, Iowa, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Tennessee, Minnesota, Maryland, Indiana, Kentucky, Rhode Island and other states with privacy laws have the rights below, as their state law provides.
